ÓTICAS-OCT has reinforced its social commitment through the 21st edition of the project “Visão Solidária – 1% of December’s Revenue.” This year, the initiative resulted in the donation of a €1,540 check to CAT Renascer, which is part of the Torres Vedras Community Center.
As the name of the initiative suggests, the amount corresponds to 1% of the company’s December revenue and is fully allocated to CAT Renascer — a Temporary Shelter Center that welcomes children and young people at risk. The funds raised will be used to improve the institution’s accommodation conditions, helping ensure that it remains a safe space providing quality care focused on the development and growth of these children.
“This act of generosity and social responsibility by ÓTICAS-OCT is an inspiring example of how community and local business engagement can make a real difference in the lives of those who need it most. The support provided will significantly contribute to the continuity of our work in the community, strengthening values such as solidarity, unity, and social commitment,” said Rui Duarte, president of the Torres Vedras Community Center.
In addition to the financial donation, ÓTICAS-OCT, in partnership with ONFM radio, organized a community outreach activity. The 12 children sheltered at CAT Renascer expressed their Christmas wishes on cards, which were displayed at the ÓTICAS-OCT main store on Rua 1º de Dezembro in Torres Vedras.
In a demonstration of solidarity, customers and local residents were invited to “sponsor” a card, purchase the requested gift, and deliver it to the store. The final handover took place on December 22, when, in addition to the requested gifts, the ÓTICAS-OCT team also donated presents, ensuring that the magic of the holiday season reached everyone.
Luís Góis, General Director of ÓTICAS-OCT, highlighted the importance of this mission: “This Christmas was particularly special. Beyond the financial contribution of 1% of our revenue to CAT Renascer, we witnessed the community coming together with us and ONFM to fulfill the wishes of these 12 children. This spirit of closeness is what defines us as the ‘Family Optician.’ Knowing that this contribution will help improve the living conditions of these young people motivates us to continue the solidarity journey we began more than two decades ago.”
The symbolic cheque handover took place at the ÓTICAS-OCT main store, in the presence of its General Director, Luís Góis, and the President of the Torres Vedras Community Center, Rui Duarte.
