Born into a family of opticians and passionate about fashion from an early age, Luís Moreira, an engineer and industrial manager by training, decided to venture into preserving Portuguese craftsmanship and, in 2023, created Winner Against Winner (WxW).
“The brand was born from the desire to combine artisanal tradition with innovation in eyewear design. After learning and practicing at several companies in the sector, I realized there was an opportunity to create something that united quality, authenticity and modern design. So I decided to found WxW with the aim of offering eyewear that stands out for its excellence and authenticity, while preserving the value of Portuguese craftsmanship.”
The ÓpticaPro team was invited to see where it all happens. There is a moment, during the tour of the facilities in Paredes, when Luís Moreira bends down and runs his finger along the joint between the front and the temple of a pair of glasses. It is an old, almost ritual gesture: if the finger glides over it without catching on the “seam,” the fit is perfect. That gesture sums up everything that happens in this factory, where machines from 1963 coexist with five-axis CNC technology.

This is where the WxW brand is born, turning Italian acetate into handmade eyewear, with an almost obsessive attention to the details that no one sees, but everyone feels. This is not the story of glasses already displayed in a shop window, but that of their creation, from the raw material in sheets to the hands that touch each piece, time and time again, before we can call it a pair of glasses.
