The recent collaboration between Central Mensageiro and AASO emerges as a concrete response to the environmental and logistical challenges faced by the optical sector. The focus on reverse logistics and the circular economy promises not only to improve operational efficiency but also to reduce the ecological footprint associated with the activity.
According to Rui Motty, president of the AASO board, the partnership brings immediate advantages to the sector: “The integration of Central Mensageiro will allow for immediate gains in scale, efficiency, and reach in the Waste Collection Circuit.” The manager also highlights the optimization of collections, the reduction of costs and carbon footprint, as well as the reinforcement of the system’s reliability and traceability.
From an operational standpoint, Paulo Leão, founder of Central Mensageiro, emphasizes the active role of logistics in this transformation: “Central Mensageiro sees its participation in the Waste Collection Circuit as a natural extension of its role in the optical sector’s logistics chain.” He adds that the goal is “to contribute to the creation of a more efficient, structured, and environmentally responsible system.”
