CEO of the Ergovisão group, Emídio Rodrigues, this year completed 25 years of his career. In a conversation with OpticaPro, Emídio Rodrigues talked about the company, the professional route, memories and lessons in a career that lasted a quarter of a century, as well as predictions for the future. The 1st of March 1996 marks the beginning of this “story full of moments.”

How has the last 25 years been with Ergovisão?

Every day I wake up and go at my leisure, I can say that it has been an enthusiastic and intense 25 years, always with the goal to serve Ergovisão according to their values and principles that distinguish us in the sector in which we operate. I have grown with the company and the company has grown with me, we have a biunivocal relationship which will be remembered forever. I went through various stages of learning, leading a story full of moments, with the thought of the future and the memory of the past.

What does this award mean to you?

I do not see it as an award, not least because I am not expecting to be rewarded! It is a recognition, which every human being likes to feel. I’m part of this project as a plastic artist, who develops his artwork with no regard for how much money I can make once it is completed. Also, I am scrutinised every day. I like to focus on making things happen without thinking about awards or honours.

During your time in the company, have you seen the brand grow?

Ergovisão has a very good plan based on three main pillars: fashion, health and technology. This trilogy, combined with the mission, vision and values of the company, gave rise to a very sustained growth strategy, allowing it to be among the largest Portuguese optical groups. Whoever tries the brand tastes the forbidden fruit and becomes a fan for life!

What were the hardest moments of your professional career? What is it like working for a group like Ergovisão?

Much like life we have ups and downs, but there are some that leave a mark. What is important today is what you want for tomorrow. The company has a positive spirit, always looking for continuous improvement, very entrepreneurial and innovative, always focusing on tomorrow. If something goes wrong, it doesn’t matter who it was, but what it was and why it happened, then we look for solutions.

What have you done over these 25 years?

Throughout my 25-year career I can say that I have done everything, so I have full knowledge of the business, which is an asset to the current role of the CEO of the Ergovisão group, passing on my experience and vision to all involved.

What are your best memories of these 25 years with Ergovisão?
