Marco Dias, optometrist, entrepreneur, and an active voice in the defence and development of optometry in Portugal, was the featured guest in another episode of Lente Indiscreta.

A graduate in Optometry and Vision Sciences from the University of Beira Interior, he complemented his training in Madrid and more recently with a postgraduate qualification in digitalisation in primary vision care.

Over the course of his career, he worked at organisations such as GrandOptical and Opticlinic before taking a decisive step towards independence as a freelancer. In 2007, he founded Oculista do Bairro, a distinctive project focused on proximity care and clinical practice outside the traditional optics model — and one that, nearly two decades later, continues to grow and establish itself in the market.

At the same time, he has played an active role in professional associations, with experience in APLO and a connection to ANO, contributing to the debate and evolution of the profession in Portugal.

A conversation about the profession, clinical vision, entrepreneurship, and the future of optometry in Portugal.
