Nearly half a century later, it is the three brothers — Luís, Hugo, and Renato — who, alongside their mother and long-time collaborator Lúcio Maia, ensure the continuity of a project that combines artisanal tradition, technology, and a strong human touch in customer care.

At Oculista de Campanhã, located at 108 Rua da Estação, in the city of Porto, every pair of glasses tells a story of love for the profession. Founded in 1980 by Adriano Gonçalo, this establishment was born from the attentive eye of a man passionate about his craft and the way it could change lives. For decades, his optometry office was more than a workplace — it was a space for conversation, advice, and trust, where every client became part of the family.

Today, Adriano’s legacy lives on in the steady hands of his three sons and his wife, who continue to make this optical store a symbol of closeness and dedication. It was in this warm, family environment that Renato Gonçalo, the youngest of the brothers, welcomed us. With a calm gaze and gentle voice, he spoke with emotion about the story his father began writing more than four decades ago — a story made of work, affection, and vision.

While his brother Luís attended to the day’s appointments, Renato looked back on the past and shared the present, proving that here, seeing well also means knowing how to take care of people.
