“The optical market in 2023 has experienced and is still experiencing some uncertainty. The customer profile has changed and continues to change, forcing companies in the sector to redefine themselves and adapt to this change. What is happening in Portugal reflects what is happening in the rest of Europe and, as is the case in countries with more competitive markets, companies in our sector will also have to be willing and able to adjust to change, with new approaches and differentiated services that customers value.”
Paulo Arromba, one of Institutoptico’s managers, also explains that “this transformation and the adaptation of our companies to it is the great challenge we face. Now, a major transformation process is underway within Institutoptico, which aims to propel the entire network to a much more competitive and differentiating level, meeting the demands of customers and the market”.
And he points out that “the optical sector in Portugal continues to live in a certain ambiguity. It seems to be waiting for something to happen rather than promoting measures that comply with the European Union legislation. It’s important to be aware that profound changes are going to take place and only those who are prepared will be able to keep up with all these changes.”
