On October 7th, employees from the head office and cooperators of the Grupo Conselheiros da Visão came together for a volunteering event at the Ronald McDonald House in Porto, located next to São João Hospital. Their participation in the “Chefs with Love” initiative was part of the corporate social responsibility partnership established this year between the two organisations.
Cooking with love. Caring for those in need.
The Ronald McDonald House in Porto provides free accommodation and support to families whose children are undergoing hospital treatment. This support allows them to stay close to the medical care that children and teenagers need, while remaining together during the most difficult times.
It is in this context that the “Chefs with Love” initiative was created, bringing solidarity to the table by preparing meals for these families, helping to ease their day-to-day worries and giving them more time to be with their children.
During this volunteering event, employees from the head office and cooperators of the Grupo Conselheiros da Visão shared tasks in the kitchen and prepared a meal for the families staying at the House. For the participants, the experience was far more than simply rolling up their sleeves: it was an opportunity to experience first-hand the value of solidarity and to understand how a meal prepared with care can bring comfort, ease worries and show families that they are not alone.
The Grupo Conselheiros da Visão invites other companies to take part in this experience, to involve their teams in this volunteering initiative, and to discover the impact that small gestures can have on the lives of others.
