The OPÓTICA summit once again represented a significant milestone for the sector. That is what we felt, and what participants conveyed to us, throughout this third edition. Celebrating the vision, innovation, and talent that drive Portuguese optics is the main purpose of this initiative promoted by ÓpticaPro magazine.
Throughout 21 March, around 200 participants took part in a day entirely devoted to knowledge sharing, reflection, and networking. Several crucial topics for the future of optics and optometry in Portugal were debated by experts, business leaders, and professionals from different areas of the sector. The program included thematic sessions, roundtables and moments of interaction, addressing core issues such as management, innovation, regulation, and the new demands of consumers.
The five round tables, held in the Nova Iorque Room at the Solverde Spa & Wellness Center Hotel in São Félix da Marinha, Vila Nova de Gaia, set the tone for the debate and sparked essential reflections: “Independent, franchising or group: which is the best choice?”, “What is the role of social media in optics?”, “How to reach the top?”, “Post-regulation of optometry: what changes in the sector?”, and “Training and research in vision sciences: how do we compare with Europe?”. Alongside these sessions, there was also time for a lecture sponsored by EssilorLuxottica on “Nuance Audio — the new hearing solution”.

The day ended in a celebratory atmosphere with the announcement and presentation of the ÓpticaPro Awards 2026, which recognised 20 professionals and projects that, with passion and dedication, contribute daily to raising Portuguese optics to a higher level. This ceremony, integrated into the official programme, reinforced the sector’s commitment to innovation, excellence, and the recognition of merit.
More than an event, OPÓTICA is a symbol of unity, inspiration, and progress. It is an occasion that celebrates past achievements and sets the challenges of the future. In April 2027, we will meet again, stronger, more united, and ready to keep looking further ahead.
Stay tuned, as we will very soon be releasing the magazine dedicated to OPÓTICA 2026, as well as the image gallery and video summary of the event.
