In December the colour of the following year is revealed and this was the 26th time that happened. The “evocative soft brown” was selected as the color of the year for 2025, continuing a tradition that has lasted for more than a quarter of a century.

“Elegant, sophisticated and earthy”, this is PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse for 2025. The new color palette can be used on its own or serve as a versatile base, enhancing a wide range of palettes and applications – from minimalist to richly detailed designs – across all colour focused industries.

“A versatile shade infused with inherent sophistication and earthy refinement,” PANTONE 17-1320 Mocha Mousse creates ”a strong chromatic base, complementing diverse applications, both minimalist and richly decorated, across all design and colour-conscious sectors.”

For this purpose, five exclusive colour palettes were created with PANTONE 17-1320 Mocha Mousse, each conveying “its own distinct feeling and mood”. Within each of these five colour stories, PANTONE’s creatives also included four colour harmonies, available online, shared through Pantone Connect.

For Laurie Pressman, vice president of the Pantone Colour Institute, Mocha Mousse feeds the desire for harmony. “For the Pantone Colour of the Year 2025, we sought a colour that achieves our desire for comfort and well-being, and the indulgence of simple pleasures that we can gift and share with others.”
