ÓpticaPro magazine promotes a pioneering event dedicated exclusively to professionals, suppliers and brands in the optical sector: OPÓTICA summit. The meeting is scheduled for May 10th and 11th, 2024, in Porto.
The OPÓTICA summit aims to bring optics professionals together and challenge them to tell their stories “in living color” and listen to those of their colleagues, in a series of conversations between the main players in the market. Furthermore, and no less importantly, we want the sector’s suppliers to have a place and a voice at this event, with moments for networking and exchanging ideas, strengthening the professional network that shapes this area.
The event will take place at the Instituto Pernambuco Porto-Brasil, in the ‘Invicta city’, over two days, May 10th and 11th, and on Friday will feature unique points of view from some of the sector’s most important leaders, who will surprise us with a unique and personal vision. Mentored by speaker and consultant Carla Carvalho Dias, entrepreneurs Luís Coelho (Mais Optica), Miguel Caires (Alberto Oculista), Paula Pinho (Adão Oculista), Paulo Cenicante (Fábrica dos Óculos Original), Rui Motty (Optocentro), Rui Rocha (Moutinho Ópticas), Sérgio Silva (Ópticas Lince) and Vera Velosa (Institutoptico) will touch on various areas of optics in a unique and inspiring way.
On Saturday morning, there will be two round tables, moderated by journalist Estela Machado. The first, starting at 9 a.m., will try to answer the question “What are the advantages of belonging to an optical group?” and will be led by four group leaders: Pedro Soares (Conselheiros da Visão), Luís Lucas (Institutoptico), Helder Oliveira (Grupótico) and Miguel Alves (Alain Afflelou). The second round table, scheduled for 11 a.m., will focus on the state of optics/optometry training in Portugal and will feature the main teaching institutions in the field in our country, namely the University of Minho (António Queirós), the University of Beira Interior (Francisco Brardo), ISEC Lisboa (Clara Pérez) and INETE (João Firmo).
The 2024 ÓpticaPro Awards will be presented on Saturday afternoon, in a solemn session attended by the winners and the jury of this year’s awards. The aim of the ÓpticaPro Awards is to boost the Portuguese optics sector and motivate professionals to do more and better. Find out more about this year’s winners here.
