The Portuguese National Association of Opticians (ANO), with the Government and the Directorate-General of Health (DGS), signed a cooperation protocol for the reopening of the economy. This protocol was created thanks to the collective effort of several associations – among them the ANO -, their association leaders and the Portuguese Commerce and Services Confederation (CCP) which autonomously and responsibly produced manuals and guidelines for health and good practices in the resuming of business activity.
One of the manuals approved by the Government and the DGS was that of the National Opticians Association. “It is with great pride to see a document from the National Opticians Association validated by the Government and the Directorate-General of Health,” said the president of the ANO, Fernando Tomaz, after signing the protocol. Through complying with the standards and good practices mentioned in this manual will ensure that the ANO opticians give a sign of confidence to workers in the industry and, above all, to consumers, who will be able to enter our establishments safely.
They also mention that “the ANO was aided by the collaboration of the Professional Union of Portuguese Opticians and Optometrists (UPOOP) in the establishing of these guidelines and standards for the optometry offices associated with the ANO. We would also like to remind you that the Association of Licensed Optometry Professionals (APLO) declined the invitation to collaborate in this document. The ANO’s Manual of Procedures and Good Practices was the only one validated by official bodies, so it is the document that should be implemented in optician establishments in Portugal”.
