Researchers António Queirós, José González-Méijome and Jorge Jorge, from the School of Sciences of the University of Minho (UMinho), are among the 200 most influential in the world in the area of optometry.

As a curiosity, José González-Méijome is the ninth researcher in the world with more scientific articles in the area per year (9.4, on average), totalling 206 in 22 years of work. UMinho ranks 21st among 72 institutions worldwide in terms of the impact of publications in this area. Portugal is the seventh country with more researchers in the list, after the USA (76), Australia (43), United Kingdom (41), Canada (16), Spain (6), Hong Kong (6) and New Zealand (3).
