In the context of helping the underprivileged inhabitants of Penafiel, the City Hall has implemented a new charity activity, in partnership with Cortez Marques Oculista – Optivisão, that aims to make unifocal or progressive glasses available for free.

Cortez Marques Marques Oculista – Optivisão has been present in Penafiel for the last 33 years. Hugo Cortez Marques, the company’s CEO, states that “this partnership is also a way for us to contribute in terms of social responsibility and give back to the local community, that has been with us for the past three decades. We and the City Hall believe that we will make a difference in each and every pair of eyes. We would like to motivate our colleagues that are present in other towns to replicate this charity project”.

This new project will start with the oldest optical shop in town, and will have an initial phase, lasting one year and representing an estimated investment of 40.000 euros.

Let’s not forget that, recently Penafiel was awarded the title of “Family friendly town” by the National Observatory of Familiarly responsible Municipalities. For the first time Penafiel was awarded this title for the third consecutive year, being the only town within the region to get this award for three times in a row.
