When we spoke in 2005, I was general director of Ciba Vision \u2013 Novartis. However, in 2014, you were already the Iberian general director of Sauflon and now, since 2016, you have been leading Essilor’s destinations in Africa, responsible for three countries: Nigeria, Angola and Ghana. What do you highlight about your path over the past 15 years?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n It was 15 years of great professional challenges that kept me connected to the health area in different geographical latitudes, in Europe and Africa, where I tried to create value in all relations with all the different market stakeholders and contributing fundamentally to the improvement of the population’s quality of life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In your opinion, what were the main changes that have occurred in the optical sector over these years?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The analysis is done in two dimensions. At the retail level, the optics sector has tried to keep up with the pace of evolution and innovation that occurs in the world on a daily basis. And the information is available just a click away, which means that we have a demanding and informed consumer market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What about the lenses market, in particular?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n At the ophthalmic industry level, we are facing a sector that is positioning itself in an accelerated way for greater consolidation and concentration, in order to achieve gains in efficiency and profitability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
