{"id":137,"date":"2018-04-15T09:00:44","date_gmt":"2018-04-15T09:00:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.opticapro.pt\/en\/?p=137"},"modified":"2018-06-11T11:02:33","modified_gmt":"2018-06-11T11:02:33","slug":"half-of-the-portuguese-population-sees-badly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.opticapro.pt\/en\/2018\/04\/15\/half-of-the-portuguese-population-sees-badly\/","title":{"rendered":"Half of the Portuguese population sees badly"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>According to the National Program for Vision Health, of the Directorate General for Health, it is estimated that in Portugal about half of the population suffers from impaired vision, from decreased visual acuity to blindness, about 20% of children and half the adult population suffers from significant refractive errors and about half of the blind population are of working age.<\/p>\n<p>With this in mind, the Ministry of Health, through an order published in the Official Gazette, established a commission, chaired by Ant\u00f3nio Augusto Magalh\u00e3es, ophthalmologist at Hospital S.Jo\u00e3o, to develop a National Strategy for Vision Health.
