It is the duty of all professionals to demand certified products so that the Portuguese can take care of their eyesight,&#8221; the brand said in a statement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As ophthalmic lenses are a class I medical device, all products of this type marketed must follow the rules imposed in the new Medical Devices Regulation (EU) 2017\/745 (MDR), which aims to improve surveillance, market surveillance, and traceability, as well as ensuring that these products reflect the latest scientific and technological state-of-the-art. This legislation also provides more transparency and legal certainty for manufacturers and aims to strengthen international competitiveness and innovation in the sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It should also be noted that these new regulations on medical devices adapt European Union legislation to technical advances, changes in medical science, and progress in the legislative process. The new regulations also create a robust, transparent, and sustainable regulatory framework, recognized internationally, which improves clinical safety and creates fair market access for manufacturers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All lenses manufactured by Shamir Optical in Portugal comply with the requirements of Regulation (EU) 2017\/745, harmonized standards EN ISO 14889 and EN ISO 21987, and international standard ISO 8980.
